Overview

Position:
Process Engineer

This position will implement appropriate technical services to ensure that client and project management needs are met. The role includes performing field and office tasks as well as providing project management support for a petroleum remediation project including operation of dual-pump liquid extraction recovery wells, two groundwater treatment systems, and a soil vapor extraction system in Brooklyn, NY.

Responsibilities
  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot groundwater treatment systems; coordinate tasks, budgeting, and subcontractor management.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage field implementation of common remedial technologies/approaches designed by Senior/Principal level professionals; support remedial design work.
  • Demonstrate task/project management skills; manage schedules and budgets in line with company standards and client requirements.
  • Mentor and train junior staff; collaborate with senior management to grow as a consultant and leader.
  • Coordinate data collection and review; adjust data collection protocols as needed; prepare reports documenting findings and remediation recommendations to satisfy regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Systems Operations Manager, Senior Engineers, and vendors/subcontractors to troubleshoot and optimize treatment systems.
  • Support field coordination and management: set up work plans, supervise field activities, and coordinate additional personnel to implement project plans.
  • Ensure compliance with project schedules and budgets; track progress to meet client requirements and company standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field.
  • Minimum of 3 years in the environmental consulting industry with demonstrated progression in groundwater treatment systems and task management.
  • Proficient in operating and troubleshooting groundwater treatment systems; coordination of tasks, budgeting, and subcontractor management.
  • Experience planning, coordinating, and managing field implementation of remedial technologies and supporting senior professionals with remedial design work.
  • Demonstrated task/project management skills.
  • Intermediate data evaluation and analytical skills including proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with technical protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with control systems and instrumentation; PLC/SCADA programming and troubleshooting is beneficial.
  • Field Coordination and Management: set up work plans, supervise field activities, and coordinate additional field personnel.
  • Technical Data Review and Report Preparation: coordinate data collection, interpret data, and finalize reports documenting findings and remediation recommendations.
  • Project Management: monitor and review task schedules and budgets to meet client requirements and company standards.
  • Staff Mentoring and Training: participate in the development of junior staff and support leadership growth.
Physical Demands / Work Environment

This position works in the field as well as in an office environment at a dedicated facility in northern Brooklyn, NY. Field activities include sample collection, recording of operational/meter parameters, and working with environmental technicians. Requires driving to project sites and performing tasks outdoors in various terrains and weather conditions, with extended or irregular hours as needed. Physical tasks include lifting and carrying objects, standing, walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, and twisting.

Office work is primarily sedentary and involves repetitive hand movements on a computer.

Base Salary

Base Salary Range: $78,000 - $88,000. This range reflects Roux’s good-faith beliefs at posting time and may vary based on experience, market conditions, education, certifications, and internal equity. Eligible for performance bonuses based on individual performance and firm profitability.
