Working in close collaboration with the project design team, the AutoCAD Drafter owns the end-to-end production of precise 2D/3D drawings and complete plan sets from concept through as-built. Partnering closely with project engineers, architects, construction leads, and project managers, this role translates design intent into buildable documentation. The Drafter coordinates multi-discipline inputs (survey data, structural/MEP details, vendor information), incorporates redlines and field measurements, and delivers submittal-ready packages that meet schedule, client specifications, and permitting requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Drafting & Modeling:
Produce and revise detailed technical drawings, floor plans, sections, details, and 2D/3D models in AutoCAD (and Civil 3D/Revit if applicable) - Design Translation:
Convert conceptual sketches, markups, and specifications into accurate, buildable plans and sheet sets - Collaboration:
Work closely with architects, engineers, construction leads, and project managers to interpret design intent and coordinate multi-discipline inputs - Revision & Updates:
Incorporate redlines, RFIs, field measurements, and change directives; maintain proper version control and revision logs - Standards & Compliance:
Apply company CAD standards (layers, line weights, title blocks, CTB/STB), and ensure drawings align with applicable codes, permitting requirements, and industry regulations - Documentation:
Generate supporting documents (legends, schedules, basic material lists/quantity tabulations) and assemble submittal-ready plan sets (PDFs/plots) - Site/Factory Visits (as needed):
Perform basic field verification to capture dimensions and existing conditions for as-built updates - Quality & Problem-Solving:
Flag constructability or coordination issues early and propose practical drafting solutions to improve clarity and efficiency
- 5+ years of professional drafting experience in architecture, civil/site, structural, MEP, or manufacturing environments
- Certificate or AAS in Drafting/CAD Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field
- Proficiency with AutoCAD; familiarity with Civil 3D (surfaces, alignments, profiles, pipe networks) and/or Revit/Navisworks a plus
- Solid understanding of drawing standards, scales, dimensions, and plotting/printing workflows; experience with Sheet Set Manager preferred
- Bluebeam and basic PDF mark-up workflows;
Micro Station or GIS familiarity a plus - Ability to interpret design notes, sketches, and specifications with strong attention to detail and organization
- Clear, responsive communication skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines
- Strong construction knowledge, with experience in Subcontract Management for a Contractor
- Work will be primarily office-based
- Extended periods of computer-based work are required for reporting, analysis, and document preparation
- Occasional site visits to active construction areas may be required, involving exposure to noise, dust, vibration, and varying weather conditions
- Requires the ability to sit, type, and review detailed documents for prolonged periods with accuracy
- Flexibility to work extended hours as needed to meet commercial and compliance deadlines
