Location: New York
Tectonic is currently seeking EIT-Certified Civil Field Engineers to join our team on a full-time basis to work on various building and infrastructure projects throughout the NYC area.
This position will provide our engineers with the chance to work on high profile, challenging projects that offer the opportunity for professional growth and advancement within the A/E/C industry working for a Top ENR 500 Firm!
Position overview and location details define the opportunity for professional growth within a leading ENR 500 firm in the NYC area. The role requires travel to project sites, field testing, and inspection duties as part of a civil engineering field team.
Responsibilities- Travel to project sites daily to monitor construction operations and perform field inspections and testing using applicable procedures and equipment to determine compliance with project plans and specifications.
- Prepare Daily Field Reports and communicate deficiencies to project managers, contractors, and client representatives.
- Interpret project drawings and documents and perform related duties as assigned.
- BS Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or another relevant engineering field;
- Registered EIT in New York State is required; related certifications are a plus;
- Ability to complete required OSHA training within a reasonable time period;
- Effective oral and written communication skills;
- Ability to learn and understand the fundamentals of building inspection codes and requirements in order to carry out testing, including, but not limited to, International Building Codes, ASTM Standards, and TMS standards;
- Must be detail oriented;
- A valid, clean driver’s license and personal vehicle to travel to and transport testing equipment to various project sites primarily throughout the New York City metro area, as regular daily travel is required.
- Assume a stationary position; handle, inspect, and/or feel documents, materials and/or equipment relevant to the job;
- Communicate with colleagues, supervisors, and clients using company email and telephone systems;
- Move around on the job-site, including ascending or descending on the landscape or on a ladder, and positioning oneself to access testing materials and equipment for extended periods;
- Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. for some types of monitoring and inspections;
- Good visual skills, including focused depth perception;
- Regular daily operations of a motor vehicle, which may require remaining stationary for extended periods;
- Employees may be required to undergo substance abuse testing in accordance with project requirements, US DOT Regulations, and/or Company policy; may operate a computer and standard office equipment;

Pay Range: $20.00 - $45.00 / hour
