Project Director / Senior Program Manager
Join AECOM as a Project Director / Senior Program Manager in the New York, NY area. This role will lead program management for transportation and heavy civil construction projects, focusing on the MTA and alternative delivery projects.

Job DescriptionThis position reports to the transportation business in New York and works with a professional technical team across bridges, highways, ports & marine, airports, rail, and planning disciplines.
Responsibilities- Directs and manages the entire project through all phases
- Responsible for delivery of a major program or group of smaller projects
- Provides leadership and guidance to subordinate managers and staff
- Enforces company and project policies
- Acts as primary liaison between AECOM and client interface
- Provides regular status briefings to client
- Leads issue detection and resolution
- Ensures all facets of the project are constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule
- Implements a safety and quality oversight program
- Responsible for budget control and contract management
- Ensures proper staffing levels
- Leads contract closeout
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, contractors, and community representatives
- Oversees a comprehensive risk management strategy for the project
- Ensures project adherence to sustainability and environmental guidelines
- Evaluates and implements new technologies to improve project efficiency and outcomes
- Mentors and develops team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
- Bachelor’s degree plus 12 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency and/or education
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Professional Engineer, Registered Architect or CCM designation
- BS in Engineering, Construction or Architecture (preferred)
- Construction / project management experience on transportation projects (preferred)
- 15+ years managing major transportation design or construction projects (preferred)
- 8+ years working on MTA projects (preferred)
- Experience managing work, scope, budgets and schedules (preferred)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills (preferred)
- Strong problem solving and negotiation skills (preferred)
- Experience successfully managing projects (preferred)
- Ability to work within a paperless environment (preferred)
- Experience with alternative delivery projects (preferred)
Sponsorship for U.S. employment authorization is not available. Relocation is not available. Compensation is $240,000 – $320,000 per year, based on education, qualifications, experience and location.
