Location: New York

We have an exciting opportunity for an Energy Engineer to join a leading engineering firm in New York.

This role is responsible for evaluating, designing, and supporting energy efficiency and capital improvement initiatives across building systems. It focuses on audits, technical analysis, and project development to improve energy and water performance while meeting regulatory and financial requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate the technical and economic feasibility of energy efficiency and capital improvement projects.
  • Conduct energy audits and site assessments to identify performance gaps and savings opportunities.
  • Analyze utility data to assess consumption patterns, trends, and optimization strategies.
  • Inspect and monitor building energy systems, including HVAC and related subsystems.
  • Perform cost-benefit and lifecycle analyses to support investment decisions.
  • Review architectural, mechanical, and electrical plans for energy performance and compliance.
  • Ensure projects align with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Prepare clear technical reports and present findings to owners, managers, and decision-makers.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in energy engineering and/or energy auditing.
  • Experience with ASHRAE-level audits and familiarity with relevant energy and building performance regulations.
  • Knowledge of building automation systems, controls, sustainable design, and HVAC systems.
  • Understanding of incentive programs and ability to assess applicability to projects.
  • Strong skills in energy analysis, feasibility assessment, and performance evaluation.
  • High proficiency in Excel and strong general computer skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly in writing and presentations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
