The Architecture and Specification team is looking for aSystem Engineer.
Microwave is a R&D entity inside Mobile Network Group of Nokia designing point to point digital radio microwave links.
As a System Engineer in Microwave R&D you will contribute to the feature evolution of existing products as well as to the definition of new innovative technologies and products. The knowledge of the Telecommunication System principles and their applicability as function of the target application scenarios are relevant part of Wavence product line for both the current product and for the future roadmap and innovations.
You will develop extensive knowledge of new telecommunications protocols and state of the art standards, microwave specificities, Nokia’s hardware platforms and the way customers are deploying and use them. You will contribute in developing innovative solutions exploiting advanced technologies to address the Nokia strategy in 5G domain and beyond.
As part of System and Architecture team, you will work in the context of a single team over different Microwave R&D locations, highly interacting with other teams inside Microwave, in a multicultural and worldwide exciting context.
You will have the opportunity to expand your current knowledge and background into several areas touching also the implementation aspects: HW, SW, FPGA, test, Integration and Validation. You will have a unique opportunity to keep under control the whole development cycle, from Product Requirement (coming either from customers, marketing or Product Managers) to Customer Delivery.
Working relationship with external supplier, universities, Bell Labs and other research centers are part of the research and development activity.
QualificationsThis job is for you if you:
- Knowledge of telecommunications systems and technologies
- Knowledge of Networking Protocols
- Synchronization methods (physical and by packets) and related standards
- Competence in "best design practices" and “coding for reuse”
- Experience on complex systems (HW + FPGA + SW, including big ASSP)
- Knowledge of Ethernet standard and advanced Ethernet features (QoS, link/servce OAM)
- Basic Knowledge of radio transmission concepts
- Legacy Telecom Standard (TDM)
- Knowledge of radio transmission concepts (equalization, modulation, FEC, clock and carrier recovery, XPIC, diversity, adaptive modulation)
- Knowledge of microwave point-to-point communication application
- Good spoken and written English
- Good teamwork skills
- Adaptability and accountability
- Communication skills (oral and written)
- Good synthesis capability
Effectively cooperating with people with different technical background and culture, dealing with diverse situations and viewpoints - Eager to learn and expand own knowledge
Here is what an ordinary day at work would look like:
- Requirement analysis and feasibility studies/Pre assessment
- System specification, Epic and User Stories definition
- Feature HW/SW partitioning
- Architecture Definition for new products
- Prototype and demo board interactions
- Support to test, debus and validation in lab interacting with instrument and pattern generators
- Contribute to process improvement and innovation
