CMTA (formerly AMA Group), a Legence company CMTA is one of the fastest-growing engineering firms in the U.S., known for sustainable, high-performance building systems and complex MEP/FP delivery. Through AMA’s design expertise in media, broadcast, and production facilities—and CMTA’s national portfolio in education, healthcare, and zero-energy projects—we pair deep technical craft with an innovative, collaborative culture that accelerates careers.

CMTA, formerly known as AMA Group, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer who will be responsible for overseeing and managing a range of projects, both large and small, with a focus on providing technical leadership in mechanical design. As part of this role, you will act as the face of AMA during all interactions with clients, contractors, architects, and other members of the project team.

This position is a first-level project team manager, and you will be responsible for coordinating and managing the activities of a team. Due to the diverse range of project types and sizes, you may at times be accountable for individual technical design.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and lead daily team activities with inside and outside design team members
  • Advance the design of the project with those you supervise
  • Become responsible for managing projects through all phases of development
  • Receive technical guidance on unusual or complex projects
  • Learn and understand contract terms and the scope of service
  • Responsible for all facets of product delivery to assigned clients and share accountability for satisfaction
  • Manage a significant amount of work as a project manager and be responsible for several projects
  • Build relationships with the design team and/or clients
  • Respond to requests from clients and communicate information on time to strengthen trust in your advisor
  • Work with the Group Leader to inform, manage, and meet project schedules
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in mechanical engineering; field experience required; people management experience highly preferred
  • Expert knowledge of building codes and standards, engineering drafting standards, mechanical engineering standards, and other trades
  • Expert understanding of the construction process and interpretation of construction drawings
  • Expert knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit
  • Experiencing managing and assisting in managing project teams
The Employee Experience

People are at the heart of what we do. We’re committed to a diverse, inclusive culture where employees thrive—individually and as a team—with development, wellness, and day-to-day experience front and center. We offer competitive benefits and a collaborative, fun work environment. Our team was named “Best Engineering Firm to Work” for by Best Companies Group for 2024, 2025, and 2026—a people-first standard AMA continues as they integrate with CMTA.
