Overview
Boiler Inspector – Syracuse (NY HELPS) – Salary $53,764 to $68,630 (Grade 14) – Full‑Time, Permanent, Competitive Class – 75% Travel – Telecommuting Available – 37.5 hrs per week (Mon‑Fri, 9 AM‑5 PM).
Responsibilities- Conduct scheduled regulatory safety inspections of high/low pressure boilers and boiler installations to ensure safe operating condition.
- Enforce compliance with statutory provisions of the Labor Law and industrial rules relating to boiler operations.
- Perform inspections in response to complaints, accidents, or as directed by a Senior Boiler Inspector.
- Climb through small openings and top of boilers as required for inspections.
- Four years of commercial, residential, or military experience in boiler making, boiler installation, or inspection or in the operation and maintenance of high and/or low pressure boilers including all firing apparatus and control devices.
- Or an associate degree in engineering technology, marine engineering, mechanical engineering, or mechanical technology plus two years of the above experience.
- Must meet NY HELPS minimum qualifications if hired under the NY HELPS program.
- Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders.
