Location: New York

This Quality Inspector role focuses on ensuring that suppliers adhere to client specifications, particularly for hardware and quality records deliveries. The position involves on‑site visits, quality verification, reporting, and continuous improvement collaboration with the client’s Supplier Quality and Sourcing organizations.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain supervision of quality adherence to client specs at key suppliers, spending the majority of time at supplier facilities (excluding travel).
  • Collaborate with the client Supplier Quality organization to verify supplier quality tasks versus applicable ITPs witness points on key orders and critical manufacturing processes (e.g., welding, NDTs, painting, mechanical, electrical assembly).
  • Engage directly with suppliers during visits, investigate and verify quality issues, coordinate with the lead SQE to resolve issues ahead of or behind plan, and drive improvements involving client participation.
  • Spend time on the factory floor noting quality issues, coordinate with the responsible SQE, and recommend actions to supplier leadership to put quality back in conformity.
  • Provide written weekly reports to the client on supplier quality issue resolution for open orders, highlighting progress against schedule and any observations or concerns, including deviations to manufacturing processes, personnel qualification vs. requirement, ITP, and manufacturing plan execution.
  • Follow inspector guidelines GPQWI-5.3-61- SOURC.
  • Conduct intermediate, final, and packaging inspections per plan.
  • Submit inspection reports according to procedure or requirement and ensure all punch‑list items are captured and closed with supplier agreement.
  • Monitor risks to quality, delivery, safety, and environment; coordinate with responsible SQE for STOP WORK escalation if risk is detected.
  • Ensure suppliers follow MPP (Manufacturing Process Plan) and ITPL (Inspection Testing Plan) approved by the client.
  • Lead expediting and fulfillment activities at key client suppliers, including hardware and drawing deliveries.
  • Collaborate with the client Sourcing organization to define supplier priorities, key orders, and provide insight into supplier capabilities, challenges, and expectations.
  • Engage suppliers during visits to verify milestone progress, noting orders ahead or behind plan, and ensure adequate processes and tools for measuring progress against baseline schedule.
  • Spend time on the factory floor noting progress and issues causing or potentially causing delays, and recommend improvements to supplier leadership.
  • Provide written weekly reports to GEV on supplier progress for open orders, highlighting progress against schedule and any observations or concerns including manpower, material availability, capacity constraints, tooling & machinery limitations, etc.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Special process experience in welding, NDTs, painting, electrical, and mechanical assembly.
  • Familiarity with technical drawings (technical specs, NDTs, bill of materials, etc.).
  • Familiarity with quality assurance processes and methodologies used by GEV such as NCR, FMEA, and problem solving.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a factory setting, including manufacturing/assembly experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing, production, and schedule management within a factory setting.
  • Recent experience working in power plant sourcing or project teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience with power generation products.
  • High motivation and influencing skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills.
  • Strong process mindset.
