HDR NY/NJ Transportation Business Group is seeking a Senior Civil/Highway Engineer to work on Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build Projects. The key duties include developing design criteria, plans, calculations, cost estimates, and specifications for highway and civil projects. The engineer will lead or collaborate with teams on analysis, design, and calculations, and should be a team player capable of leading and growing the NY/NJ Civil/Highway Section's technical performance.
Familiarity with local and national codes, standards, and project management experience are required.
In this role, you will:
- Lead design and technical tasks for highway and civil projects, including roadway design, hydraulic analysis, stormwater management, utility design, and permitting.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and regulatory agencies.
- Interact with clients to deliver projects on scope, schedule, and budget.
- Perform quality checks and mentor junior staff.
- Represent HDR at industry seminars and support business development efforts.
- PE license in NY and/or NJ.
- 15+ years of highway and civil engineering experience.
- Proficiency with Microstation, InRoads, Openroads, and Civil 3D.
- Experience with NYSDOT, NYSTA, NYCDOT, NYCDDC, or PANYNJ preferred.
- Leadership experience in design teams.
- At least 10 years in roadway engineering design.
- PE license.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Experience with urban and rural highway projects, including interchanges and traffic management.
