Senior Mechanical Engineer - Rochester, NY
Salary range: $140,000-$170,000, contingent upon candidate’s experience and demonstrated technical proficiency.
We’re seeking a full‑time mechanical engineer to lead our expanding team and contribute to the design and management of mechanical and piping projects in the pharmaceutical and food & beverage industries. Responsibilities- Lead projects and a team independently.
- Develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs, drawings, and specifications for HVAC systems, dust collection, chilled water systems, heating water systems, controls, plumbing, and other mechanical disciplines.
- Manage contracts and clients for MEP projects.
- Train and grow the Mechanical team.
- Manage and quality review deliverables and project execution (estimated 50% of workload).
- Design HVAC, hydronic, and steam systems (estimated 50% of workload).
- Assess project requirements, break them into tasks, and work with Project Managers to determine scope, budget, and staffing.
- Write scope of work for mechanical or utility design based on preliminary review and client meetings.
- Prepare engineering studies and schematic designs for new systems and analyze the operation of existing systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- Experience in engineering consulting in the food and beverage manufacturing or pharmaceutical manufacturing industries.
- 8+ years of design engineering experience.
- Knowledge of HVAC system design and experience with central utilities including steam, chilled water, and compressed air systems.
- Design of material handling and dust collection systems an asset.
- Solid knowledge of mechanical codes and standards including ASHRAE, ACGIH, and NFPA.
- Familiarity with ISPE and HACCP requirements.
- Proficiency in using the Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, and Revit.
