Location:

30-30 Thomson Avenue, LIC, NY 11101.

Hours:

Full Time – 35 Hours (or up to 17 hours per week during school year, full‑time during winter/summer breaks). Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited college or graduate school.

• Report directly to an Engineer‑in‑Charge.
• Create drawings from basic data and sketches.
• Assist engineers in collecting and selecting data.
• Manage map archives.
• Engage in regular surveys.
• Coordinate AutoCAD drawings with utilities and consulting firms.

• Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school.
• Employment conditioned upon continuance as a student.

• Level I: matriculation only.
• Level II (Information Technology): specific coursework in IT, CS, MIS, data processing or related field plus 9 semester credits.
• Level III (IT Fellow): same course requirement plus 9 semester credits; appointments made by the Technology Steering Committee via ITT.

Maximum tenure for all assignment levels is 6 years. No student shall be employed more than half‑time in any week when classes are in session. Full‑time employment allowed during vacation periods.

• Preference for candidates with civil engineering major.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with AutoCAD considered an advantage.

New York City residency generally required within 90 days of appointment. City employees who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
