Hewlett-Woodmere Public Schools (HWPS) is located on the south shore of Long Island and is consistently ranked as one of the highest performing Districts on both state and national levels. The District educates close to 2800 Pre-K through 12th grade students across five schools with a budget of $138 million. We are seeking a motivated and dedicated School Business Administrator. This position reports to the Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Personnel.
Required qualifications:
NYSED certification in administration (SDBL/SBA/SDA).
Preferred qualifications:
Experience in a public school business office or governmental accounting. Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to municipal purchasing and student transportation. Familiarity with integrated school financial management software. Ability to search, understand, and interpret relevant NYS laws, regulations, and procedures. Understanding of school district state and federal fiscal record keeping, reporting, and fund accounting which includes knowledge of special aid, capital, extra classroom, and cafeteria accounting.

Key responsibilities:
Supervision of the Business Office and Transportation Departments Purchasing Agent - responsible for the compliant purchase of all goods and services
Prepares, issues and analyzes bids and Requests for Proposals Assists in the development of the annual budget
Prepares transportation contracts and required reporting
Administers to Health & Welfare Services provided to non-public schools
Serve as Faculty Auditor for Extra Classroom Activity Fund, prepares quarterly and annual reporting
Responsible for preparing reporting:
Every Student Succeeds Act, Universal Pre-Kindergarten Grants, Medicaid Cost Report, State Aid filings, and other ad hoc and required reporting
Prepares reimbursement claims for services provided to non-resident public and non-public school students
Establishes and maintains internal controls related to all business operations
Management of daily transportation operations, including coverage for the Bus Dispatcher when absent
Support District Clerk with preparation of annual budget vote Serve as Record Management Officer Ability to analyze data and perform long-term financial planning
Administrative liaison for the Board Long Range Transportation Committee, participates on the Board Audit Committee and a member of the District Leadership Team Willingness to attend professional development workshops
All other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Personnel
