Kindergarten Teacher
The Nightingale-Bamford School seeks a Kindergarten Homeroom (lead) teacher for the school year. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with Kindergarten students and an eagerness and ability to collaborate with others. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate a strong interest in and understanding of child development, possess excellent oral and written communication skills, take initiative, and display an innovative spirit.
The candidate should be committed to applying an equity lens to their practice and driven to explore ways to reach all learners through differentiated instruction and student-centered practices. Finally, the candidate must be fluent in the use of technology and well-versed in positive classroom management techniques and a variety of assessment methods.
- Teaching pre-reading, mathematics, English, social studies, and SEL
- Collaborating as part of a grade-level team to continuously improve curriculum and instruction
- Supporting a positive classroom environment and overseeing the social and emotional development of all students through developmentally appropriate and responsive practices
- Fostering strong communication and problem solving skills, creative thinking, ethical decision making, collaboration and innovation in students
- Using grade-level guidelines to assess and evaluate students throughout the year, maintaining records and writing narrative reports accordingly
- Participating in conferences with Kindergarten families
- Building relationships with and maintaining regular contact with Kindergarten families
- Mentoring and supporting the development of associate teachers
- Participating in and contributing to the school community outside of the classroom, including attending school events such as curriculum night and admissions events as needed
- Attending weekly meetings as a member of the professional community
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the division head
- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in elementary education.
- Must have the ability and willingness to teach other lower school grades in subsequent years.
- Strong communication (verbal, written, interpersonal) skills and leadership qualities.
- Commitment to working with an associate teacher and acting as a mentor teacher.
- Demonstrated organization and planning skills; strong attention to detail, as well as follow-up and follow-through skills to ensure completion of goals and objectives.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ease in effectively prioritizing multiple competing tasks and demands.
- Strong background and familiarity in teaching literacy and math skills.

- Demonstrated cultural competence and an ability to understand, appreciate, and work with constituents across varied backgrounds and cultures
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the salary range for this position is $75,000 - $95,000. Nightingale considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
