Breast Reconstruction.org is seeking a thoughtful, proactive, and detail-oriented Medical Writer / Content Developer to support our educational content, digital presence, and outreach efforts. This remote, contract role is ideal for a strong writer with experience in healthcare or patient education who is comfortable managing content and contributing to strategic planning.
The Medical Writer / Content Developer plays a key role in ensuring that our website and communications provide accurate, accessible, and up-to-date information for individuals navigating breast reconstruction. This position blends writing, editing, content strategy, and light project coordination, with a strong emphasis on clarity, accuracy, and patient-centered storytelling.

Content Creation & Editorial WorkKey Responsibilities
- Write SEO‑optimized blog posts focused on breast reconstruction, patient education, and related topics
- Draft and edit a monthly email newsletter
- Review existing website pages and provide content recommendations
- Add new content to the website to support patient education and organizational initiatives
- Regularly audit the Breast Reconstruction.org website to identify outdated, missing, or unclear content
- Ensure all content is patient‑friendly, medically accurate, inclusive, and aligned with organizational messaging
- Use findings from content gap analyses to identify opportunities to strengthen educational coverage and search visibility
- Implement SEO‑driven updates to existing content in collaboration with an SEO strategist
- Support ongoing website redesign and optimization efforts from a content perspective
- Strong writing, editing, and research skills with the ability to translate information about breast reconstruction into a digestible format for patients, caregivers, and others to understand.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a remote environment
- Familiarity with content management systems such as Word Press or Squarespace
- Comfort making direct edits and updates to website content
- Experience with email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp (or similar)
- Understanding of or interest in healthcare, patient advocacy, nonprofit communications, or medical education
- SEO writing experience or willingness to collaborate closely with an SEO strategist
- Personal experience with breast reconstruction, or a close personal connection to someone who has undergone breast reconstruction, is a plus and will be viewed as a valuable perspective in supporting patient‑centered content
