For over 125 years, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens has been providing quality social services to the neighborhoods of Brooklyn and Queens, and currently offers 160-plus programs and services for children, youth, adults, seniors, and those struggling with mental illness.
STATEMENT OF THE JOB:
The Child Development Services Director reports directly to the Vice President, Early Childhood Services and serves as a senior member of the Early Childhood Services leadership team. To facilitate effective delivery of services in Child Development and disabilities including mental health, by communicating with the other Content Specialists including Program Managers in early childhood, Family Child Care Providers, Director of Caritas Professional Development Training Center and external organizations which provide services to typically developing children and children with special needs and their families.
The Child Development Services Director provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure full compliance with the Head Start Act, Head Start Program Performance Standards (45 CFR Part 1302), Program Governance Requirements (45 CFR Part 1301), and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
The ECS Services Director is responsible for:
- Oversight of Education Services (§1302 Subpart
C) - Oversight of Disabilities Services (§1302.60–1302.63)
- Full adherence to the Agency’s Montessori curriculum
- Health, Safety and Child incident reporting and active supervision compliance (§1302.47; §(d))
- Monitoring and continuous quality improvement systems (§; §)
- Supervision of designated program management staff
The Child Development Services Director is accountable to the Vice President for operational execution, compliance integrity, service quality, and child safety within assigned program areas.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in early childhood education, Special Education, Child Development, or related field preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- NYS Certification (Birth–2nd Grade and Special Education) preferred
- Minimum 5 years progressive leadership experience in early childhood programs.
- Minimum 3 years supervisory experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards required.
- Experience in Head Start or federally funded programs strongly preferred.
- Experience with Montessori curriculum implementation preferred.
- Experience in managing Disabilities Services required.
- Ability to work flexible hours and days.
- Ability to travel to multiple locations within the five boroughs as needed.
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
