Job Description:
SUNY Cobleskill is seeking a Head Men's Soccer Coach to lead and grow its NCAA Division III men's soccer program at a pivotal moment in its history. This position offers a unique opportunity to build competitive success as SUNY Cobleskill prepares to join the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) beginning in the 2026-27 academic year, one of the premier Division III conferences in the Northeast.
The successful candidate will be an energetic recruiter, an effective teacher, and a program builder, committed to student-athlete success, competitive excellence, and institutional values.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of the men's soccer program, including coaching, recruiting, and program administration
- Recruit, retain, and develop student-athletes aligned with NCAA Division III philosophy and SUNY Cobleskill's academic mission
- Prepare the program for successful competition within the SUNYAC through strategic planning, scheduling, and scouting
- Plan and conduct effective practices and game strategies focused on individual and team development
- Promote a positive team culture emphasizing sportsmanship, leadership, accountability, and academic achievement
- Manage program operations including budget oversight, equipment, travel, and scheduling
- Ensure compliance with NCAA, SUNYAC, SUNY, and institutional rules and policies
- Collaborate with athletics staff, admissions, academic support, athletic training, and strength and conditioning
- Participate in fundraising, alumni engagement, and campus/community outreach initiatives
- Support departmental goals related to growth, student-athlete well-being, and competitive success
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Coaching experience at the collegiate, high-level club, or equivalent level
- Demonstrated recruiting ability and knowledge of NCAA Division III regulations
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and holistic student-athlete development
In addition to the aforementioned minimum qualifications, it is preferred the candidate also have:
- Master's degree
- Collegiate head or assistant coaching experience, preferably at the NCAA Division III level
- Familiarity with SUNYAC institutions and regional recruiting territories
- Experience building or elevating a competitive soccer program
- The salary range for this position is $54,000 - $55,500
- This is a full-time, term 10-month appointment
