Oxford Royale’s Economics and Finance Summer School introduces students to the fundamentals of economic theory and financial management. We are seeking a knowledgeable and engaging teacher who can guide students through key concepts such as market structures, economic policies, and financial systems. The ideal candidate will challenge students to think critically about contemporary global economic issues, fostering a deep understanding of how financial markets operate and the role of economics in shaping societies.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and adapt lessons using the Teacher’s Guide, ensuring the content meets the academic levels and interests of the students.
- Deliver engaging lessons covering topics such as macroeconomics, microeconomics, financial markets, and economic policy.
- Use subject expertise to encourage student progress, providing personalized feedback and adapting lessons to suit individual learning needs.
- Lead interactive workshops, debates, and case studies to apply economic theory to real-world financial scenarios.
- Mark assignments, provide detailed feedback, and complete student reports reflecting individual progress.
- Handle administrative tasks, including maintaining registers and attending staff meetings.
- Collaborate with fellow teaching staff to create a stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in economics, finance, or a related field, with an understanding of current economic trends and financial markets.
- Passion for inspiring students and fostering their interest in economics, finance, and global markets.
- Ability to communicate complex economic concepts clearly and adapt teaching methods to different learning styles.
- Creative and confident teaching approach, encouraging critical thinking and analysis of global economic challenges.
- Fluency in English and strong organizational skills.
- Post-holders must hold an existing right to work in the USA (visa sponsorship is not possible).
- Programmes are two weeks in length with 2 or 4 week contracts available (location-dependent).
- A timetable for teaching hours will be provided according to the chosen location, however lessons take place most weekdays in the mornings and afternoons (with some weekend teaching required depending on location).
- Compulsory online training must be completed before starting the role, plus attendance at further in-person training before the programme begins.
- Whilst teaching materials are provided, Teachers are expected to plan and prepare for each lesson, contributing their own expertise and in some cases adapting according to programme timetable and student interests and abilities. Adjustments must meet the minimum delivery requirements of learning outcomes and Programme Director approval.
- This is an exempt role with compensation of $1200/week to cover core instruction, preparation, marking and support of supplementary academic activities.
- Undergraduate degree (or higher) in Economics, Finance, or a closely related field.
- Academic, educational and/or relevant work experience in the subject field to be taught.
- Experience of delivering in-person teaching in their subject to students of the relevant age group (16-18), preferably on short summer courses.
- A recognised US teaching qualification for teaching in the subject to be taught or one closely related.
- Master’s degree in the subject to be taught or one closely related.
