DescriptionProvides information to and advises both enrolled and prospective students regarding the academic programs offered by the University or a specific department, including requirements for admission and retention through graduation; may coordinate the work of entry level academic advisors.
- Holistic Advising & Empowerment:
Empowers advisees to navigate their academic journeys, fostering agency and assisting them in making personally, socially, and/or culturally relevant meaning of their learning experiences. - Proactive Advising & Interpretation:
Communicates and interprets the institution’s curricula, learning outcomes, policies, and procedures tailored to each advisee’s unique situation. - Data-Informed Best Practices:
Utilizes student data systems to analyze trends in retention and graduation, implementing data-driven advising strategies to improve student outcomes. - High-Stakes Policy Application:
Interprets and applies university academic policies, procedures, and degree requirements, including delivering difficult news regarding academic probation, suspension, or dismissal with professionalism and empathy. - Goal Setting & Decision Making:
Partners with advisees in decision-making, critical‑thinking, and planning related to their education, connecting them to resources to support achievement of academic, artistic, career, and personal goals. - Institutional Advocacy &
Collaboration:
Contributes expertise to influence local curricula, processes, policies, and organizational structures while collaborating with campus partners to support student wellbeing.
- This frontline academic advising position will work directly with undergraduate art (Graphic Design BFA) and graduate arts leadership (Arts Leadership MA and related certificate programs) students and faculty.
- Experience working with high performing/achieving students would help prepare a successful candidate for this position.
- Experience working in academic programs with competitive admission standards would help prepare a successful candidate for this position.

Experience will be considered in lieu of education.
Education will be considered in lieu of experience.
MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.
Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job‑related experience.
