Middle School Mathematics Teacher

Convent of the Sacred Heart is New York City's oldest independent school for girls. Position: Middle School Mathematics Teacher

Reports to: Middle School Division Head and Mathematics Department Chairperson

FLSA: Exempt, full-time

Salary Range: $67,500 - $100,000 annually

The MS Mathematics teacher will join a highly collaborative, innovative, and experienced faculty. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated interest in middle school education, enthusiasm about mathematics, and the ability to relate and communicate effectively and appropriately with middle school female students.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver exceptional mathematics instruction to multiple grades, including one section of Algebra I.
  • Collaborate with members of the math department to plan active lessons and instructional aids.
  • Maintain professional and collaborative relationships with colleagues.
  • Open to a problem‑solving approach to teaching mathematics.
  • Commit to learn about and support the school’s mission.
  • Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and parents about student progress.
  • Commit to personal growth through active participation in professional development.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Masters Degree required.
  • Experience teaching middle school mathematics and Algebra I.
  • Strong and advanced knowledge of the course content and pedagogy is imperative.
  • Knowledge of and experience teaching Singapore Math is an asset.
  • Possess proficiency and adaptability with instructional technology.
  • Integrate instructional technology into the math and middle school curriculum.
  • Deliver daily lessons using a variety of methods – lecture style, small‑group discussions, problem‑solving activities, manipulatives, and note‑taking.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of, appreciation for, and demonstrated commitment to anti‑racist, anti‑bias education, multicultural teaching, and culturally responsive pedagogy.
  • Proficient with current educational technology, especially blended learning platforms and strategies.
  • Positive team player with a desire to contribute and share your gifts and talents with the students and administration of the school.
