On school grounds, school monitors will be required to interact and supervise activities of the general public – including parents, staff and school‑aged children, including those with behavioral and emotional issues – and provide appropriate interventions as required.
Minimum Qualifications- Prior work experience interacting with the general public.
- Experience overseeing and monitoring the behaviors of school‑aged children.
- Experience with crisis intervention preferred.
- Greet and screen campus visitors and contact the appropriate department to notify of their arrival; issue passes and direct campus visitors to their destination.
- Guide traffic during school bus arrival and departure times.
- Guide students and staff across campus roadways and driveways.
- Interact with school‑aged children with patience and tact.
- Monitor and ensure students are safe and orderly while on school property and, when necessary, assist in their removal from school property.
- Monitors social interactions and provides prevention and intervention with altercations or potential altercations.
- Assist with tracking students on campus who do not report to class.
- Provide representation for students with issues that may arise and warrant the attention of administration.
- Handle miscellaneous minor clerical duties, i.e. copying, filing and completing passes/documents.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

- Ability to report work orally and in writing to supervisor as required.
In accordance with the Safe Schools Against Violence in Education (SAVE) legislation, Chapter 180 of the Laws of 2000, and by the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, candidates for appointment in school districts must obtain clearance for employment from the State Education Department prior to employment based upon a fingerprint and criminal history background check.
