The Social Science Department at New York City College of Technology (City Tech), a comprehensive college of the City University of New York (CUNY) offering associate and baccalaureate degree programs, invites applications for a full‑time tenure‑track faculty position in psychology at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2026.
The Department of Social Science is a multidisciplinary department that offers an academic minor in psychology and is seeking to develop a bachelor's degree program. The department comprises the disciplines of anthropology, economics, geography, government, history, philosophy, psychology, and sociology. In addition to the academic minor in psychology, the department offers a baccalaureate degree in data analytics (economics) and academic minors in history, environmental studies, and economics.
Responsibilities- Teach primarily introductory and upper‑level psychology courses, including in‑person, hybrid, and online formats.
- Participate in the development and assessment of new curricula and pedagogical approaches.
- Provide student advisement and mentoring.
- Contribute to department, school, college, and university service activities, including but not limited to college governance, program assessment, day‑to‑day operation, and student recruitment and retention.
- Research resulting in publications and presentations.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support departmental initiatives and college‑wide programs.
Ph.D. in Psychology or a related field. Candidates must be able to teach successfully, demonstrate scholarship or achievement, and cooperate effectively with others for the good of the institution.
Preferred Qualifications- Scholarly focus in experimental psychology is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to teach a variety of psychology courses at the college level.
- Strong commitment to quality undergraduate teaching and learning.
- An active research program with a record of scholarly publications.
- Demonstrated ability to work across disciplinary boundaries.
- Experience with diverse student populations in a metropolitan setting.
- Experience using online learning management systems such as Brightspace.
$76,937 – $94,909. Salary commensurate with education and experience. Salaries for eligible employees will be adjusted by 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC‑CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
