Position: Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
Location: New York

The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs is responsible for leading the College of Pharmacy in areas related to curricular and programmatic development and innovation. The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs (ADAA) supports the Dean in academic and curricular matters, and in the preparation of College and University-level accreditation reports and projects. The ADAA supports faculty development as it relates to curricular, teaching and programmatic development and assessment.

The Associate Dean should have a demonstrated record of academic administration, including the development and maintenance of new and/or revised programs, assessment, experience with faculty development, and team building. The ADAA must have strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to adapt and lead in a dynamic environment. The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs must be eligible for a faculty appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor.

Experience in Pharmacy academia preferred.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Administer and oversee goals, objectives and policies of the academic program, ensuring a strong and collaborative academic environment.
  • Serve as liaison between the College of Pharmacy and the University (deans, departments, and senior leadership).
  • Provide leadership in the effective development, implementation, and ongoing assessment of the professional curriculum.
  • Support the Office of Assessment and the Associate Dean of Assessment.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Dean for Student and Professional Affairs to prepare the schedule of courses to ensure appropriate and effective use of College and University facilities and resources in teaching and learning.
  • Develop and manage assigned budgets.
  • Ensure compliance to academic standards and perform effective curriculum oversight.
  • Provide leadership for the planning, development, implementation, and assessment of the College’s strategic initiatives and operations.
  • Coordinate the accreditation process, including the development of interim reports and the self‑study process.
  • Manage sabbatical leave, leave of absence, and vacation request process.
  • Manage the process for external Professional Activity forms, service assignments, purchase orders, faculty development travel approvals.
  • Oversee agreements and collaborations with affiliates, partners, and other institutions.
  • Set stipend and tuition waiver levels as allowed.
  • Provide oversight for the operations and organizational effectiveness of all academic and assigned administrative units.
  • Receive and address questions, complaints, grievances, and suggestions from members of the College, and take appropriate action as required.
  • Conduct classroom evaluations to identify physical, technical, and educational resources needed to support optimal student learning.
  • Collaborate as needed with the division chairs to draft faculty workloads for teaching.
  • Work with faculty to develop programs for the advancement of the faculty, to promote contemporary pedagogical approaches as well as faculty academic success and well‑being.
  • In collaboration with the faculty, facilitate the development, implementation, assessment, and revision of the didactic and experiential curriculum for the Pharm

    D program as needed.
  • Develop, implement, assess, and revise the curriculum, including course development, mentoring of course coordinators, adjunct faculty, assessment, and other activities related to the graduate program.
  • Conduct annual evaluations of faculty and provide feedback to support for reappointment/ promotion during the promotion and tenure process.
  • Engage with faculty and staff to enhance mentorship across the College.
  • Work with the Coordinator of the Teaching and Learning Certificate Program to assess and revise the teaching certificate program as needed.
  • Engage in scholarly activities in areas of interest and expertise.
