Location: New York

Mountain Lake Academy is an experiential-based program that works with 36 students in grades 7-12 at a year-round boarding school located in the High Peaks of the Adirondack Mountains. Mountain Lake Academy provides a variety of experiential-based programming for boys in grades 7-12. These experiences include hiking, canoeing, mountain biking, skiing, snowshoeing, multi-day expeditions, and vocational programming.

About This Role

The Program Manager plays a key leadership role in partnership with the Residential/Clinical/Education Director and the senior leadership team. This position is responsible for supervising 15 to 20+ staff members, strengthening program quality across residential, clinical, and educational settings, and ensuring a safe, engaging environment for students.

Responsibilities
  • Promote a culture of safety, respect, and growth for students and staff.
  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and professional development to residential staff.
  • Facilitate group activities and model leadership in dynamic settings.
  • Collaborate with cross-departmental teams to support integrated programming.
  • Uphold high standards of professionalism and accountability across all aspects of the role.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree preferred;
    Bachelor’s in Human Services or related field required.
  • At least 8 years of experience working with children in an experiential, therapeutic, or residential school setting.
  • Prior experience supervising and leading adult staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with students and staff in a positive, constructive, and professional manner.
  • Proven leadership skills and capacity to manage complex, multifaceted programs.
  • Valid New York State driver’s license.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
