Location: New York

Our client, a higher education organization, is seeking a Student Affairs Advisor. The incumbent will advise students in-person and the department’s advising inboxes, working closely with colleagues to support students and resolve issues quickly. The Advisor also assists with administrative tasks and responsibilities such as maintaining accurate student records and updating the department website. They will also enforce policies and assist with relevant events and programming to further students’ academic experiences.

Responsibilities
  • Advises doctoral and undergraduate students regarding academic progress, general degree requirements, program options, administrative policies and procedures.
  • Connects students to specialist advising for career development, immigration and personal issues.
  • Refers students to their respective faculty advisors to address electives, career-related questions, and other issues.
  • Addresses admissions inquiries and resolves administrative concerns for students, interprets and enforces rules and policies.
  • Maintains and updates student records.
  • Assists in monitoring academic progress and managing the graduation clearance processes.
  • Collaborates with the Student Services team to plan and execute various events to enrich student life and build a strong sense of community within the programs.
  • Performs other tasks, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2+ years of related experience
Preferred Skills
  • Master’s degree
  • Experience working with higher education student populations and/or advising preferred.
  • Experience conducting fact-finding interviews
Compensation

$28-33/hr salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
