Title: College and Career Readiness Coordinator
Department: St. John’s University’s Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP)
Location: (In-Person) John Adams High School, Queens Collegiate High School St. John’s Campus
The Liberty Partnerships Program is a state-funded grant program sponsored by the New York State Education Department. St. John’s LPP is seeking a Parent Coordinator to chair our Parent Action Committee (PAC) and to create parent engagement opportunities that enhance our student and program services. The LPP Parent Coordinator is a part-time, in-person position that will serve the families of students enrolled in the SJU Liberty Partnerships Program.
Duties:
- Plan, implement, and coordinate opportunities, activities, and events that promote college and career readiness while encouraging student involvement.
- Collaborate with LPP staff, teachers, and guidance counselors on college readiness events.
- Work with community partners to provide college and career readiness initiatives.
- Conduct monthly college or career presentations for students.
- Be an active member of NYSED Statewide College Readiness Subcommittee.
- Support parents in becoming their child’s first teacher and advocate.
- Prepare monthly narratives and progress reports on activities.
- Assist with student recruitment.
- Maintain records, data, and surveys for program planning.
- Manage a caseload of up to 30 students.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s in education, social work, psychology, or related field required.
- Master’s in education or social work preferred.
- NYS Teaching Certification or LMSW preferred.
- 5+ years of experience working with students and families in a high school or community-based setting.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of MS Office and ability to create PowerPoint presentations.
Hours: 6-10 hours weekly, some evenings or weekends required. Hybrid remote options may be available for evening or weekend meetings.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly salary range for this position is $25-$47. St. John’s University considers various factors when extending an offer.
This position may be relocated to any of St. John’s University’s physical locations at any time.
