Children’s Ministry Leader First Baptis

Position Summary:

First Baptist Church in Manhattan, KS is seeking a passionate and organized part-time Children’s Ministry Leader who loves Jesus and has a heart for discipling children. This individual will lead and oversee all aspects of ministry for children from birth through 6th grade, providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where kids can grow in their faith and relationship with God.

This position reports to Pastor Chris Geyer.

• Plan, coordinate, and lead weekly children’s ministry programs (e.g., Sunday School, Children’s Church, Nursery, and Wednesday Night).
• Recruit, train, and support volunteers and ministry team members.
• Select curriculum that aligns with biblical teaching and engages children of various ages.
• Create a safe and welcoming environment, ensuring all volunteers follow child protection policies.
• Partner with parents to support spiritual growth at home and encourage family involvement in church life.
• Organize special events, such as Vacation Bible School, seasonal programs, and family outreach activities.
• Collaborate with church leadership to integrate children’s ministry into the overall mission and vision of the church.

• A personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
• Experience working with children and/or in children’s ministry.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to recruit, equip, and encourage volunteers.
• Familiarity with or willingness to learn curriculum planning and church safety practices.
• Alignment with the mission, beliefs, and values of First Baptist.

• Degree or coursework in Children’s Ministry, Education, or a related field.
• Experience in program development and event planning.

• Part-time approx. 15 hours a week.
• Sundays and some evenings required, flexible scheduling during the week
