Client Solutions Director – Engine by Starling
At Engine by Starling, we are on a mission to find and work with leading banks around the world who have the ambition to build rapid growth businesses on our technology. Engine is the SaaS platform that powers Starling, and two years ago we separated as a stand‑alone business. Our cloud‑native platform is now available to banks and financial institutions worldwide, helping them deliver innovative digital features and efficient back‑office processes.
We are headquartered in London with offices in Dublin, Sydney and Dubai, and have recently launched in North America, establishing an East Coast HQ. This role will ideally be based in the New York metropolitan area; other East Coast locations will be considered, and the role involves national and international travel.
About the roleWe seek an entrepreneurial and versatile leader who can drive localisation and implementation of Engine’s platform with North American clients, providing guidance and advice around Engine’s capabilities. You will shape Engine’s entry to the U.S. market and play a vital role in North American growth, growing the list of potential clients and working closely with Product Management and Engineering to shape the product roadmap.
Responsibilities- Operate as a key part of the NA leadership team and contribute to establishing Engine in the U.S. and Canadian markets.
- Maintain a global mindset, learning from the global product team and contributing findings to the global product roadmap.
- Build strong relationships with clients and implementation partners, from discovery through to launch.
- Stay abreast of current product developments and innovations globally and apply them to the North American market.
- Help grow the North American Client Solutions team.
- Travel internationally as needed.
- Collaborate with compliance and engineering teams to deliver a compliant product for the NA market.
- Present clear and compelling solutions to clients using your understanding of Engine’s product.
- Support early‑stage conversations, workshops, demos, and marketing activities.
- Drive strategic client opportunities, including commercial conversations, pitch preparation, and thought‑leadership events.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with implementation partners to support business development and go‑to‑market strategies.
- 5+ years of client‑centric product or consulting experience in banking, technology, or related fields.
- Experience in the U.S. banking sector and in developing solutions for that market.
- Experience leading delivery of large‑scale, complex programmes in financial services.
- Ability to rapidly understand client problems and present structured solutions.
- Passion for Engine’s technology and its impact on banking in the U.S. and Canada.
- Inquisitive and curious, able to understand client needs while building trusted relationships.
- Apply structured approaches to complex or ambiguous problems.
- Technical aptitude and curiosity.
- Self‑motivated and comfortable working autonomously.
- Strong presentation skills to senior stakeholders and facilitation experience.
- Adaptable communication style across stakeholders.
- Flexible delivery approach in an agile environment.
- Conversation with someone from the Client Services team.
- Interviews with additional members of the Client Services team from NA and/or UK.
- Final interview with Engine’s North American President and another VP.
