Group Teacher – Grand Street Settlement
Location: Delancey Family & Childcare Center, 294 Delancey, New York, NY 10002
Department: Early Childhood Services
Reports to: Center Director
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8 am – 4 pm (alternatives 9 am – 5 pm or 10 am – 6 pm based on program needs)
Base pay range: $61,000 – $68,625 per year (benefits included by Union Contract)
Job Summary: This position serves as a teacher for a preschool classroom with a direct focus on children 3 to 4 years of age. The teacher works collaboratively with another teacher to ensure the successful operation of a classroom of 15–20 children and implements the curriculum to achieve outcomes for children of all abilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Follow applicable state regulations and agency policies regarding prevention and reporting of child maltreatment.
- Participate in coaching opportunities and professional development training.
- Participate in annual performance evaluation to set short- and long-term professional goals.
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and reflective supervision sessions.
- Practice positive teacher-child relationships, including face-to-face interactions at their level.
- Special projects and duties as assigned and required from time to time.
- Provide strong family partnerships, establish trust and rapport, and coordinate services through Family Advocate and case conferences.
- Develop individualized plans for each child, set goals, prescribe activities, and record observations, anecdotal records, and data for assessment and program planning.
- Analyze child outcomes biannually, consult with education coordinator, and adjust curriculum as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (Master’s preferred). Certified in Early Childhood Education Birth‑2nd grade.
- Basic computer literacy (email, word processing, internet navigation).
- Comprehensive Background Clearance from NY Dept of Health and Mental Hygiene, including fingerprinting, NYS Central Registry, Sex Offender Registry, SEL check, reference checks, physical examination with TB test, varicella, Tdap, MMR.
- Mandated Reporter training certificate (renewable every 2 years) and other Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and Head Start Performance Standard trainings.
- Commitment to obtaining New York State Early Childhood Education certification within five years.
