Admissions Advisor/Recruiter

POSITION DETAILS

Medgar Evers College (MEC), a nationally recognized leader in urban-serving education, is one of twenty-four units within the dynamic City University of New York (CUNY) System. Named for the late civil rights leader, Medgar Wiley Evers ), the College's mission is to develop and maintain high quality, professional, career-oriented undergraduate degree programs in the context of liberal education. Located in Central Brooklyn, MEC was established in 1970 with a mandate to meet the educational and social needs of the Central Brooklyn community, currently enrolling approximately 7,000 students in degree programs.

The College is committed to a student-centered education and advancing knowledge through scholarly research.

Reporting to the Director of Admissions, the Admissions Advisor/Recruiters duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Represent Medgar Evers College at high school college fairs, transfer fairs, community events, festivals, etc. to discuss with potential students the opportunities available at the College and disseminate informational materials.
  • Assist in the identification and targeting of student populations most likely to respond to educational programs at the College.
  • Meet with potential students and parents to discuss admissions procedures and academic programs.
  • Provide information and follow up with high school guidance counselors, program directors, business, governmental, and community agencies as well as others who request admission information.
  • Prepare reports outlining activities performed and progress of those activities.
  • Assist in inputting student data collected into the database and mailing recruitment materials.
  • Conduct campus tours for prospective students, parents, and other constituents.
  • Advise prospective and admitted students regarding admissions, testing, and residency documents.
  • Provide assistance with the coordination of admission and registration process for entering students.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor s Degree required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office applications, and the internet, and possess willingness to learn how to use all computerized tracking systems on a network
  • Be able to follow through on tasks and exhibit initiative
  • Must possess flexibility and ability to work days, evenings, and weekends
  • Advanced oral and written skills

  • Conducts open house sessions and orientations to ensure applicants are fully informed of requirements and processes
  • Assists in direct recruiting at high schools, community outreach events, and other appropriate locations

Salary commensurate with education and experience.

$54,725 - $68,668
