Location: New York

Overview

A family in New York City is seeking a candidate who has a background in early childhood education to support their school‑age children. The schedule will be 30 hours per week guaranteed. This is a Monday through Friday role with hours generally being 2 pm‑8 pm with occasional additional hours as needed. The family has three elementary school‑age children who are in full‑time school.

This role is to provide support, structure, and assist with their education. The family would like the candidate to be highly educated, ideally with a background in early childhood education/development.

The parents feel strongly about developing the children’s emotional intelligence, as well as broader values (i.e. be loving, be kind, be polite, be considerate, be gracious). The candidate must hold these same values and be aligned in philosophy. The children are very active and enjoy sports, and the parents would like the candidate to be like‑minded, ideally with a focus on health and wellness.

The family prefers a live‑out arrangement. They may relocate within the city in the future, so the candidate should be flexible with commute changes, as they are looking for longevity with their family. The role is to start as soon as possible, but they are willing to wait for the right person.

Responsibilities
  • Always ensure the safety and well‑being of the children, first and foremost
  • School pickup and structured care through early evening
  • Take the children to classes and activities after school

  • Ability to encourage reading and language skills
  • Cook healthy and nutritious meals for the children and encourage healthy eating habits
  • Encourage/support the children’s interest in music and various instruments
Qualifications
  • Serve as a role model and educator (not just nanny) for the children
  • Experience working in a similar role i.e. a Governess/Educator
  • A formal teaching background is a plus
  • Loving, kind and genuinely enjoys working/playing with children
  • Considerate, thoughtful and intelligent, with a good sense of humor
  • A second language is a plus
  • Willingness to travel with the family is a plus
Requirements
  • Fluent English speaking
  • Hold a degree in a child‑related field
  • US work authorization
  • Must be able to travel, if required
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Experience with child development and education
