Head Start Corona - or Certified or Uncertified Teacher

The Child Center of NY invites applications for the position of Head Start Corona – 3K or 4K Certified or Uncertified Teacher. This role is based in Corona, New York, and offers a $3,000 sign‑on bonus.

As a teacher in the Head Start program, you will design and implement a responsive, age‑appropriate curriculum that nurtures the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth of children. You will lead the classroom in a professional and respectful manner, ensuring a safe, nurturing environment that promotes learning.

• Apply Head Start Program Performance Standards along with local, state, and federal guidelines.
• Deliver a curriculum aligned with Early Childhood best practices (NAEYC, NYS Quality Rating and Improvement System, NYS Common Core, NYS Early Learning Framework, and Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework).
• Maintain a comprehensive portfolio assessment for each child, including observations and developmental and social‑emotional assessments.
• Conduct home visits and parent conferences to discuss each child’s development and progress.
• Ensure a safe, healthy classroom environment; maintain equipment, furniture, and supplies.
• Use the playground as an educational extension; ensure playground safety.
• Perform daily health checklists and monthly environment checklists.
• Integrate individual I.E.P. or I.F.S.P. plans into lesson planning.
• Carry out other duties as required.

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years’ teaching experience (preferred).
• NYS licensed or approved study‑plan teacher under NYC Department of Health regulations.

• Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with NYS certification.

• Uncertified Teacher: $17.28 – $23.30 /hr
• Certified Teacher: $30.91 – $35.15 /hr
