Academic Math Tutor; Middle School

Overview

Smart Start Education seeks a small group Math tutor to work with middle school students on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Each small group consists of 1-4 students who have been identified as struggling with fundamental Math skills. Students are from grades 6 through 8.

• Work with each group several times throughout the week at a middle school in Bronx, NY.
• Deliver both push‑in (in‑class) and pull‑out (outside‑class) services.
• Take daily attendance and monitor student progress using a personal device (mobile phone).
• Maintain a flexible and comfortable approach in both classroom settings.

January 12, 2026. End date:
April 16, 2026.

Schedule:

8:00 am – 2:40 pm.

Location:

Bronx, NY.

Salary range: $204.10 – $224.51 per day.

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (applications with anticipated graduation dates are not considered).
• At least one year of teaching or tutoring experience in a school or other educational setting.
• Comprehensive understanding of the challenges faced by urban students, schools, and communities, including racial, socioeconomic, and cultural disparities.
• Mastery of high‑school science concepts and skills, demonstrating proficiency in the subject matter.
• Demonstrated passion and unwavering commitment to fostering student success.
• Exemplary punctuality and adherence to established schedules.
• Proficient communication skills for effective interaction with students, colleagues, and stakeholders.
• Able to commute to the designated location.
