About Razom: Razom is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Ukraine. Our literature program aims to promote Ukrainian literature, connect Ukrainian authors with international audiences, and foster cultural exchange.

Basic Function of Position: The Razom Literature Program Coordinator will be a key driver in increasing the visibility of Ukrainian literature in the English-speaking world. This role involves cultivating relationships with publishing industry stakeholders, facilitating the translation and promotion of Ukrainian literary works, and organizing engaging events for the American public.

Responsibilities Publisher and Industry Outreach
  • Develop and maintain relationships with English-language publishers, literary agents, and booksellers to advocate for the acquisition and publication of Ukrainian literature.
  • Identify and introduce compelling Ukrainian literary works suitable for translation and publication.
  • Educate industry professionals on the cultural significance and market potential of Ukrainian authors and their works.
  • Coordinate pitches to the agents and publishers of worthy Ukrainian books
Grant Management and Support
  • In collaboration with the volunteer Senior Advisor, manage the annual grant program for promoting books and covering translation costs. Serve as the main operational point of contact for experts, advisors, and partners related to the literary grant program.
  • Oversee the application process, review submissions from agents, publishers, and translators, and ensure timely communication with applicants.
  • Work with the Connect Program Coordinator to monitor project progress, while the Coordinator manages the administrative lifecycle and financial reporting of the awards.
Promotional Activities and Partnerships
  • Collaborate with publishers and authors to develop and implement promotional strategies for translated Ukrainian books.
  • Organize and manage events, book tours, readings, and discussions across the United States, including partnerships with universities, libraries (e.g., NYPL), and cultural institutions.
  • Utilize diverse promotional channels, including social media, literary reviews, and partnerships with relevant organizations, to raise awareness of Ukrainian literature.
  • Develop relationships with PR agents and oversee contracting out public relations work to them if applicable.
  • Collaborate with the Advancement team to share stories and event opportunities to engage donors.
Program Development and Communication
  • Provide updates and recommendations to Razom Executive team and Board of Directors regarding literary programming to further organizational effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the strategic development of the Razom Literature program, identifying new opportunities for growth and impact.
  • Identify and build strategic partnerships with academic institutions, major libraries (e.g., NYPL), and literary organizations.
  • Maintain and update information on supported books and authors, including success stories and program impact, for internal and external communication.
  • Prepare reports on program activities, achievements, and challenges.
  • Oversee budgeting and financial management of the program, including preparing and monitoring the budget and tracking expenses.
Alumni and Community Engagement
  • Collaborate with the Program Coordinator to ensure that program data, alumni stories, and reader interests from the Razom Book Club are integrated into broader strategic goals.
  • Foster a sense of community around Ukrainian literature among readers and other stakeholders.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in literature, publishing, international relations, cultural studies, or a related field.

Prior

Work Experience:

3-5 years of experience in publishing, literary arts administration, cultural programming, or a related field. Experience with grant management or international cultural exchange programs is a plus.

Job Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of the publishing industry, including the roles of publishers, agents, and translators.
