The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a  School Year)
Teaching Assistants & Teacher Aides (Secondary) - Special Education (Part-Time) to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential.

• Teaching Assistant: Must be certified as a NYS Teaching Assistant
• Teacher Aide: High School diploma

• Instruct and monitor students individually or in small groups on daily life skills.
• Assist the classroom teacher in implementing activities in support of student IEPs (Instructional for Teaching Assistants; Non-Instructional for Teacher Aides).
• Collect, maintain and provide data and information to the classroom teacher and other team members regarding student skills, progress, behaviors, and needs.
• Assist the teacher with classroom management.
• Assist in non-teaching duties such as managing records, materials, and equipment.
• Supervise students during non-instructional times, such as lunch, recess or transitions between activities.
• Help students with mobility within the school building as needed.
• Assist students with any adaptive equipment and assistive devices or other equipment.
• Establish good relationships with students, parents and other staff members.

M-F (School Hours)

• Teaching Assistant hourly rate starting at $19.40
• Teacher Aide hourly rate starting at $18.13
• Possibility of incremental increase based on experience and educational assignments.

• Strong classroom management skills.
• Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
• Adaptability and flexibility to work in various classrooms and grade levels.
• Proficiency in computer skills and school/classroom educational technology.
