Responsibilities- Take on the responsibilities of a head teacher, following provided lesson plans or directions from other classroom teachers.
- Develop and implement “emergency” lesson plans for unexpected teacher absences.
- Support interdisciplinary lessons by pushing into homeroom classes on days when substitute coverage is not needed.
- Build rapport with a wide range of students to support substitute class work.
- Demonstrate strong classroom management, establish clear expectations and routines, support executive functioning, and maintain a firm yet caring approach.
- Perform administrative and clerical tasks when substitute coverage is not needed.
- Follow the professional code and school policies to promote the mission of the school.
- Utilize Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets).
- Attend all required faculty meetings and events (e.g., open houses, Curriculum Night, Carnivale).
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Required:
Bachelor’s degree in education (any subject area), special education, or a related field; experience teaching grades 6-12.
- Preferred:
At least three years as a full-time teacher or teacher’s assistant;
Master’s degree in education or related field; special education training including gifted education and twice-exceptional youth; secondary or special education teaching credential; experience teaching twice-exceptional youth.
This job operates in a school setting. The school is located on the 5th and 6th floors with an elevator. Regular walking to various locations around the school and occasional travel to the Lower School campus (approximately two blocks away) are required.
