Children's Arts & Science Workshops is a small business in New York, NY. We are rewarding, fun, inclusive and our goal is to engage at-risk youth in a range of age-appropriate programs and activities that will increase their self-esteem and confidence, and prepare them to participate fully as productive members of society.

The job of School Program Assistant Group Leader is established for the purpose of supporting the Group Leader in helping students develop and strengthen academic, physical, and social skills by helping and tutoring students in the after-school program.

• Upper Manhattan & Bronx
• Part-Time, and Seasonal if Hired for Summer only
• Monday-Friday
• After School Hours, Summer Camp hours as well if employed for Summer

• Assists students with homework assignments, make up work, etc.
• Assists with program components for the purpose of delivering services that conform to established guidelines.
• Monitors individual students, classroom, library, recreational activities for the purpose of ensuring availability of items.
• Includes homework assistance, recreational activities, leadership development, education, and career development
• Assists group leaders in maintaining behavior standards for students.
• Attends staff meetings and professional development training

• Arrive on time for work or contact the supervisor when delayed
• Be reliable in attendance and give ample notice for absences
• Come to work with a positive attitude
• Approach criticism with a learning attitude
• Good Role Model

• High School Diploma or GED required. Some college preferred.
• Two years’ experience working with elementary grade students is preferred but not required.
• Able to work independently and/or as part of a team
• Good communication skills

• $16.50 per hour
• 56 hours of paid sick leave per fiscal year

Job Type: Part-time/Seasonal

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday

Work Location: In person, sites in the Bronx and Washington Heights
