The Pine Bush Central School District serves a large geographic area and educates over 4,500 students, including over 1,500 at the high school level. The school's 200 faculty and staff members are dedicated to providing a high-quality education to these students. Pine Bush High School offers a diverse range of academic and career pathways, including three Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs:
Haas Innovation, Business, and Woodworking. The HS also has a district developed Alternative High School program called STARS (Students and Teachers for Academic Responsibility and Service) as well as a variety of college-level courses inclusive of Advanced Placement (AP) and Dual Enrollment options. The school also features a comprehensive extracurricular program, offering more than twenty sports at the Junior Varsity and Varsity levels, along with numerous student clubs and activities.
The district is seeking a qualified and forward-thinking leader to serve as the next Principal of Pine Bush High School. The ideal candidate will have experience as a high school administrator, demonstrating success in improving student achievement and fostering meaningful student engagement. We are seeking an innovative and collaborative leader with a strong instructional background, excellent organizational skills, and a dedication to supporting all students and families within the district.
The successful candidate will possess a thorough understanding of effective instructional practices and school culture, along with the ability to facilitate change, build trust, and collaborate effectively with district leadership and teams to align with the district’s vision. Additionally, the candidate will be prepared to lead initiatives such as digital transformation, curriculum modernization, or student voice initiatives.
- Utilize data-informed decision‑making to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
- Encourage the adoption of effective instructional practices and offer constructive, meaningful feedback to educators.
- Cultivate a school culture characterized by high expectations, student achievement, leadership development, and ongoing institutional improvement.
- Demonstrate strong instructional leadership skills that motivate professionals to foster an environment of mutual respect, trust, dedicated student growth, and continuous professional development.
- Oversee daily school operations, including master scheduling, staff supervision, safety protocols, and student discipline.
- Develop and manage school budgets in collaboration with the district’s business office.
- Ensure adherence to all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and district policies.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
- Engage in strategic planning aligned with the District’s Long-Range Plan.
- Foster a collaborative and respectful school culture among faculty, staff, students, and families.
- Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate both instructional and non‑instructional staff.
- Support professional development initiatives aligned with the goals of the school and district.
- Implement teacher observation and evaluation systems in accordance with APPR guidelines.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and constructive learning environment.
- Collaborate with student support services, such as counselors, social workers, and psychologists, to address students’ academic and social‑emotional needs.
- Uphold and enforce the student code of conduct in a fair and consistent manner.
- Maintain relationships with local businesses, organizations, and higher education institutions.
- Represent the school at board meetings, community events, and public functions.
- Valid New York State School Building Leader (SBL) or School District Administrator (SDA) certification;
- Master’s degree in Education or related field;
- Minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience, and 3 years of building administrative experience (high school level preferred).
