Rebuilding Together NYC’s Workforce Development Program’s “Careers in Construction” is a comprehensive six-week pre-apprenticeship program that provides training and certifications to NYC residents seeking careers in the construction industry.
These careers provide a structured pathway into the middle class along with economic independence.
Specific ResponsibilitiesThis is a part-time, on-site role for a Building Trades Math Instructor located in Brooklyn, NY. The Building Trades Math Instructor will be responsible for developing and delivering curriculum in basic and applied mathematics tailored to the needs of students pursuing careers in the building trades. Daily tasks include preparing lesson plans, conducting classes, assessing student progress, and providing individualized support to enhance learning outcomes.
The instructor will also be responsible for creating and grading assignments and exams, and maintaining records of student performance.
- Strong background in Mathematics and familiarity with its application in the building trades
- Teaching experience, particularly in adult education or vocational training
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to develop lesson plans and deliver engaging, student-centered instruction
- Experience with curriculum development and assessment
- Proven ability to support and motivate students from diverse backgrounds
- Experience in mathematics, Education, or a related field
- Experience with hands-on construction or building trades is a plus
