NYC STEM Club, founded in 2015 in Battery Park City, is dedicated to providing high-quality STEM education for children in New York City. Recognizing the gap in preparing students for academic rigor and global competition, the organization has developed programs founded on the belief that strong foundations in Math and Arts (ELA) are essential for success in Science and Technology. NYC STEM Club offers interdisciplinary academic coursework in Math, Reading, Writing, and Computer Science for students of all grade levels.
The club also provides test prep services for exams such as State tests, SHSAT, ISEE/SSAT, AP Exams, SAT, and ACT, aiming to empower students for excellence in academics and their future pursuits.
This is a contract position for a Test Prep Tutor specializing in ELA and Math for exams such as SHSAT, SAT, ACT, and ISEE. The role will involve designing and delivering targeted lesson plans, assessing student progress, and providing strategies to improve test performance. Tutors will help students build proficiency in both content areas while fostering confidence and academic growth. This is an on-site role located in the New York City Metropolitan Area.
Qualifications- Proficiency in test preparation and content delivery for SHSAT, SAT, ACT, ISEE, and similar exams
- Ability to teach advanced Math concepts and ELA skills, including problem-solving, reading comprehension, and essay writing
- Strong assessment and feedback skills for measuring and improving student performance
- Experience in instructional strategies and creating individualized lesson plans
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effectively mentoring students
- Previous tutoring/teaching experience, particularly in test prep, is highly desirable
- Familiarity with curriculum standards and test formats, including trends in standardized testing
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, English, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
