General Description

The Academic Center for Excellence at SUNY Niagara seeks passionate individuals to support student success through tutoring. Professional Tutors provide individual and small‑group assistance aligned with existing course content, helping a diverse student population strengthen academic skills and confidence. Tutors serve as a vital link between the college and its students—supporting academic progress while fostering independent learning and self‑reliance. They assist students in developing competency in course material and applying effective learning strategies such as active reading, note‑taking, test preparation, time management, and organization.

In addition to traditional tutoring, Professional Tutors may serve as embedded tutors within the classroom, work with students in specific content areas, and provide online tutoring for distance‑education courses. Tutors are expected to offer support in a professional, welcoming, and student‑centered manner to all members of the campus community.

Content areas:
Analytic Geometry;
Contemporary Math;
Foundational, Intermediate, & Advanced Algebra & Trigonometry;

Mathematics for Consumers;
Statistics. Final candidates may be asked to meet with math faculty members to ensure an appropriate knowledge base for supporting course content.

Bachelor’s degree or lower $21.86 per hour;
Master’s degree or higher $24.04 per hour.

Tutoring hours can occur Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–7:00 pm. This is an in‑person position. Please provide your availability within your cover letter. Hours will align with Fall & Spring semesters; limited Winter/Summer hours may be available based on course offerings.
