Position Information

Position Title: Part Time Economics Instructor

Position Category: Faculty

Position Status: FLSA Exempt

Department: Economics

Working Hours: In person and Online (Tuesday & Thursday)

Remuneration: $960 per lecture hour

General Description: SUNY Niagara has a need for part time instructors to teach an online section of Microeconomics and Macroeconomics. We also have a need for in person classes on Tuesday and Thursday. Part time instructors will also be responsible completing mandatory New York State compliance trainings. Applicants must be able to attend in‑person meetings, professional development, and other obligations on the Sanborn campus.

Typical Work Activities
  • Help students during a designated office hour
  • Attend and participate in meetings as necessary
  • Complete NYS compliance trainings
  • Complete online teaching training
  • Adhere to attendance and College grading policies
Essential Functions

Ability to navigate relationships with diverse populations, speak in front of groups, actively involve and engage students in their own learning, effectively communicate with students, co‑workers, supervisors, campus and external community, develop, prepare, and present information, operate computers, and physically perform the duties of the position.

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Economics, or an M.B.A. degree with a minimum of 12 graduate school hours in economics.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Any teaching experience, but preferably experience teaching in a college, particularly in a community college.
  • Experience teaching online especially utilizing Brightspace.
