General Description
SUNY Niagara has a need for a part time Music Instructor for our Audition Prep course. This course is taught in person in a classroom setting on our Sanborn, NY campus. Music majors preparing for transfer are faced with the daunting task of preparing for an audition. This course will investigate the issues of performance and will focus on audition material and presentation skills for successful placement into academic or professional venues.
Students will refine repertoire appropriate for their instrument and use recordings, video, and reflection to make improvements to their repertoire. This course is designed to teach auditioning skills for those students auditioning for music or musical theatre departments at four year universities. Usually offered Fall semester.
Remuneration for persons teaching at least 3 credits in a semester: $960 per lecture hour/$860 per lab hour.
In order to build and maintain an active pool of qualified candidates to meet our present and future needs for this position, SUNY Niagara will accept applications on a continuous basis. Openings may or may not exist at this time. Applications are evaluated on an as-needed basis, and candidates will be contacted when the department has an opening. - Report on student learning outcomes at the end of the semester.
- Report grades at the conclusion of the semester.
Essential Functions
Ability to work with, and teach a diverse student population. Ability to speak in front of groups of people. Must be able to effectively communicate with students, co-workers, supervisors and the campus community. Must be able to develop, prepare and present information. Must able to operate computers. Must be able to physically perform the duties of the position and must adjust any teaching to the Americans with Disabilities Act provisions.
Required Qualifications
- Three years of experience teaching at a high school or college level.
Desirable Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Music or related field.
- Experience using Microsoft Office software i.e. Excel and Word.
- Experience with the Brightspace learning management system.
