Position Summary

The Curriculum Content Lead,High Schoolis responsible fortheinstructionalquality and integrityofallhigh school teaching resources for CFR Education, the educational arm of the Council on Foreign Relations.

The Curriculum Content Lead,High School leads all professional development(PD),presents atwebinarsand conferences, and creates allhigh school teaching resources in support of educators who are using CFR Education resourcesintheir classes.

CFREducation, the educational arm of the Council on Foreign Relations,helps middle, high school, and higher education students understand and engage with today’s most pressing global issues. With over 800 free, nonpartisan, multimedia teaching and learning resources, CFR Education’s supplemental materials help students gain the knowledge, skills, and perspective needed to navigate today’s interconnected world. CFR Education also provides professional development and programming opportunities to support educators as they take on this crucial work.

The ideal candidate will have public school teaching experience, excellent presentation skills, a passion for innovative and engaging teaching methods, and acommitment to the importance of global affairs literacy.

This full-time position is based in CFR’s New York City office on a hybrid basis. CFR currently defines hybrid status as working at least three days a week onsite, with Tuesdays and Thursdays considered institutional anchor days where all staffare required to be onsite.

The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):
  • Design and develop classroom materials and supports such as simulations, lesson plans, student handouts, and curriculum alignments for all Education products to ensure they are accessible and effective for teachers and students.
  • Provide instructional and effective insight and serve as the voice of the high school educator in departmental conversations among the Content, Marketing, and Product teams.
  • Remain current onand sharehigh school education industry trends, including state and national standards, trends in supplemental social studies materials, technology, and AI.
  • Lead all aspects ofCFR Education’shigh school professional development (PD) activities:
    • Outreach to,and management of relationshipswithstate and district administrators.
    • Delivery of all in-person and virtual

      PDcontent and programming
    • Meet with partners or internalteamsto discuss thegoals,audience, content strategy, andadministrationof the webinars.
      • Create the content and structureforallpresentations.
      • Provide Marketing with draft summariesofallwebinarsto be used for the website, newsletter, or other collateral.
      • Work with Marketing onwebinarpromotion.
  • Work collaboratively with Curriculum Content Lead, Higher Education on resource production and major projects targeted at both the higher school and higher education audiences
  • Speak at conferences representing

    CFR Education andexhibitat

    Education conference booths as an enthusiastic evangelist of CFR Education materials.
  • Support the development of newandmaintenanceofexistingpartnerships in the high school sphere.
  • Partner with Marketing on alleffortsaimed at the high school audience.
  • Serve asapoint of contact and support for high school educators and administrators.
  • Other responsibilities in the domain of high school education, asneeded.
Qualifications

Education

  • B.S. in Secondary Education or B.A. in foreign policy-related field.
  • M.S. in education, edtech,oraforeign policy-related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of fiveyearsintegrating global affairs into the teachingofsocial studies at a public high school. Social studies subject areasincludeworld history, U.S. history, AP or IB classes, government, civics, foreign policy, geography, or economics.
  • History of delivering professional development to teachers.
  • Successful track record presenting at webinars and conferences.
  • Creatorofhigh school social studies lesson plans, classroom activities, and/or simulations.
  • Deep knowledge and usageof high school national and state content standards in social studies.
