General DescriptionSUNY Niagara has a need for a part time Instructor to teach various Physics courses in our Business & STEM division.
Courses may include the following:
- General Physics I and II lab
- Calculus Based Physics I and II lab
- Wave, Motion, Heat, & Light lab
Additional duties and responsibilities will be reviewed during interview.
Classes are held on the main campus in Sanborn, NY.
Remuneration for this position is: $915 per lecture hour / $819 per lab hour.
In order to build and maintain an active pool of qualified candidates to meet our present and future needs for this position, SUNY Niagara will accept applications on a continuous basis. Openings may or may not exist at this time. Applications are evaluated on an as-needed basis, and candidates will be contacted when the department has an opening. TypicalWork Activities
- Teach courses in the delivery format agreed upon (face-to-face, face-to-face with Zoom option, hyflex, hybrid, blended, or online)
- Hold office hours (in person or virtual as appropriate)
- Report on student learning outcomes at the end of the semester
- Report grades at the conclusion of the semester

Essential FunctionsAbility to work with, and teach a diverse student population. Ability to speak in front of groups of people. Must be able to effectively communicate with students, co-workers, supervisors and the campus community. Must be able to develop, prepare and present information. Must be able to operate computers. Must be able to physically perform the duties of the position and must adjust any teaching to the Americans with Disabilities Act provisions.
Required Qualifications- Master’s Degree in Physics or related field or Master’s Degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Physics or related field
- 1 year teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
A background in alternative course delivery models and instructional experience at a community/technical college or four-year college with emphasis in calculus based physics.
