General Description

SUNY Niagara has a need for a part time Tuscarora instructor to teach a Tuscarora Language course at the associate degree level within the Division of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. The instructor will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in both face-to-face and online modalities, assessing student learning outcomes, advising students, curriculum and course development, and participating in departmental and college-wide initiatives.

The Instructor will provide leadership, engagement, and discipline expertise. Demonstrate commitment to student success through teaching and learning excellence.

Classes are held on SUNY Niagara’s main campus in Sanborn, NY during days or evenings.

Applicants must be able to attend in-person meetings, professional development, and other obligations on the Sanborn campus.

Essential Functions

Ability to work with and teach a diverse student population. Ability to advise students for classes, transfer options, and career opportunities in the field. Ability to be an active member in the division and serve on committees representing the division. Ability to speak in front of groups of people. Must be able to communicate effectively with students, co-workers, supervisors, and the campus community.

Must be able to develop, prepare and present information. Must able to operate computers. Must be able to physically perform the duties of the position.

Required Qualifications
  • Experience teaching language courses.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Master’s or Ph.D.
  • Three years of teaching experience at a community college
  • Experience with student advisement
  • Experience with administrative functions such as program assessment and course development
  • Experience using publisher based educational technology (or OER) and learning management systems such as Brightspace
