SUNY Niagara has a need for a part‑time instructor to teach courses in Human Services including Chemical Dependency Counseling, Disability Studies, and Early Childhood Studies. These classes are typically three lecture hours per week during days and/or evenings.
Classes are held on the main campus in Sanborn, NY, or may be offered online. Applicants must be able to attend in‑person meetings, professional development, and other obligations on the Sanborn campus even if teaching online.
Remuneration for this position is $960 per lecture hour / $860 per lab hour.
In order to build and maintain an active pool of qualified candidates, SUNY Niagara will accept applications on a continuous basis. Openings may or may not exist at this time. Applications are evaluated on an as‑needed basis, and candidates will be contacted when the department has an opening. Candidates who submit their information may or may not be notified as to the status of their application.
TypicalWork Activities
- Teach courses in the delivery format agreed upon (on campus, hybrid, blended, or online)
- Hold office hours (in person or virtual as appropriate)
- Track attendance
- Complete census reports
- Report on student learning outcomes at the end of the semester
- Report grades at the conclusion of the semester
Ability to work with and teach a diverse student population. Must be able to communicate effectively with students, co‑workers, supervisors and the campus community. Must be able to develop, prepare, and present information. Must be able to operate computers and must adjust any teaching to the Americans with Disabilities Act provisions.
Required QualificationsMaster’s degree in social work, counseling, rehabilitative services, or a related field.
Desirable Qualifications- LMSW or LCSW State License
- Doctorate of Social Work
- Prior teaching experience at the college level or experience with classroom technologies.
