General DescriptionSUNY Niagara has a for part‑time English instructors to teach developmental writing and first and second year college courses (typically three lecture hours per week) during days and/or evenings. Classes are held on the SUNY Niagara main campus in Sanborn, NY. Remuneration for persons teaching at least 3 credits in a semester is $960 per lecture hour (or $860 per lab hour).
The college will evaluate applications on an as‑needed basis and will contact candidates when an opening becomes available.
Ability to work with, and teach a diverse student population, speak in front of groups of people, communicate effectively with students, co‑workers, supervisors and the campus community, develop, prepare and present information, operate computers, and physically perform the duties of the position.
Essential Functions- Teach developmental writing and first and second year college courses.
- Prepare and deliver lecture and lab content.
- Assess student progress and provide feedback.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of composition theories and literature.
- Use technology to enhance instruction and student learning.
- Master’s degree in English, English Education, or a related field.
- Demonstrated evidence of knowledge of current theories of composition and literature.
- Experience teaching at the secondary or post‑secondary level.
- Excellent written communication skills as demonstrated by application materials.
- ABD or Ph.D. in English, English Education, or Composition and Rhetoric.
- Extensive coursework in composition.
- Experience teaching in technology enhanced classrooms.
- Evidence of successful teaching of non‑traditional students.
