SUNY Niagara has a need for a part-time instructor to teach childhood education courses within the Humanities & Social Services division. This position will be responsible for teaching and advising students throughout the academic year who are enrolled in the Childhood Education program. PT instructors will also be responsible for attending meetings as requested.
Classes are typically three lecture hours per week during days and/or evenings. They can be face-to-face, face-to-face enhanced with a Zoom option, asynchronous online, blended synchronous on Zoom, hyflex (face-to-face, synchronous Zoom, and asynchronous online), and hybrid (in-person and online). Regardless of the modality, the selected candidate would need to be available to report in person on campus when needed.
Classes are held on the main campus in Sanborn, NY, as well as the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute in Niagara Falls, NY. Applicants must be able to attend in-person meetings, professional development, and other obligations on the Sanborn campus even if teaching online or at NFCI.
Remuneration for this position is: $960 per lecture hour / $860 per lab hour.

- Teach Childhood Education courses such as Introduction to Careers in Teaching, Introduction to Elementary Education, Introduction to Contemporary Education, and Introduction to Pre-service Educators
- Help arrange field placements
- Attend and participate in meetings as necessary
- Ability to navigate relationships with diverse populations.
- Ability to speak in front of groups of people.
- Ability to actively involve and engage students in their own learning.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with students, co-workers, supervisors and the campus and external community.
- Must be able to develop, prepare, and present information.
- Must be able to operate computers.
- Must be able to physically perform the duties of the position.
Master’s Degree in Education or a related field.
Desirable Qualifications- PhD, ED, or ABD in Education
- 2 years of previous elementary/childhood teaching experience
- Experience teaching in a college, particularly a community college
- NYS Certification in grades 1-6 and/or K-2 or similar certification
NYS Certification in grades 1-6 and/or K-2 or similar certification preferred.
