Senior Instructional Designer YU Global

Position Summary

YU Global, the innovative digital educational division of Yeshiva University, seeks a Senior Instructional Designer (SID) to lead the design, development, and enhancement of asynchronous, graduate courses, micro-credentials, and certificate programs. As a key member of a high-performing instructional design team, the SID will collaborate with subject matter experts, learning engineers, and multimedia developers to create impactful learning experiences that reflect best practices in pedagogy, accessibility, and learner engagement.

The ideal candidate combines strong instructional design experience with a passion for using data and AI-enhanced tools to design meaningful, scalable, creative, innovative, and inclusive online learning. The SID will mentor junior team members, guide sprint-based content development processes, and serve as a strategic partner in building YU Global's rapidly expanding digital learning portfolio.

• Lead the design and development of asynchronous online courses using evidence-based instructional design principles, with a focus on graduate education and adult learners.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and cross-functional teams to scope course objectives, assessments, and content using AI-assisted tools (e.g., Course Constructor).
• Produce detailed course blueprints and storyboards aligned with course outcomes and credentialing standards.
• Build accessible, interactive course content in Canvas using tools such as Articulate Rise, H5P, and other SCORM-compliant platforms.
• Apply WCAG 2.2 AA and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles to ensure accessibility and inclusion for all learners.
• Leverage behavioral and performance data to guide content iteration, learner nudging strategies, and just-in-time supports via embedded tools like Tutor Bot.
• Coordinate with multimedia producers, copy editors, and project managers to meet sprint deadlines.
• Support quality assurance (QA) workflows through peer review, user testing, and continuous improvement cycles.
• Mentor and review the work of junior instructional designers and contribute to template and standards development.
• Maintain project documentation and participate in sprint planning and retrospectives using project management tools.

• Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in instructional design or eLearning development, preferably in higher education or adult learning contexts.
• Advanced knowledge of instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM), learning science, and backward design.
• Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS), especially Canvas, and course authoring tools such as Articulate 360, Thinkific, H5P, and SCORM packages.

• Experience working with AI tools in education, such as GPT-based writing assistants, automated assessment engines, or Tutor Bots.
• Familiarity with graduate education course development, adult education, and workforce development programs, micro-credentials, or competency-based education.
• Experience with agile development or sprint-based design workflows.
• Background in project leadership or mentoring other designers.
• Experience supporting programmatic or regional accreditation efforts is a plus.

• Demonstrated experience designing accessible learning content, including familiarity with screen reader support, alt-text, and video captioning.
• Ability to use data dashboards and learner analytics to inform design decisions and continuous improvement.
• Excellent writing and communication skills, especially in distilling complex topics into digestible, engaging learning components.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced, agile environment.
